The Pavlodar tube-rolling mill is to switch to full capacity. Last autumn, due to a decrease in demand, the enterprise had to reduce its output volumes. Now, thanks to the government’s support, the factory has received large orders placed by domestic and foreign oil and gas companies. Together with tube-rolling production, the plant’s commodity supplier – the “Casting” metallurgical plant began working at full capacity as well. The latest order is 16 thousand tonnes of pipes which will allow the launch of new production facilities and provide people with regular work. A contract regime imposed at the plant last year was cancelled. The 6 thousand staff has already begun working on its first orders.
Kairolla Zhumadirov, tube-rolling mill senior engineer
“People are in full work as we’re not planning to cut jobs now”.
The region also has a plant for seamless tubes which was build recently under the 30 corporate leaders programme. Before the end of this year, the factory is planning to switch to its full capacity of 270 thousand tonnes of seamless tubes per year.
Anatoliy Abdrakhmanov, head, KSP Steel tube-rolling mill
It is all thanks to President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He invited oil company heads and said they needed to buy locally produced materials. Since that moment, 6 companies have already visited our plant.
Such giants as the National KazMunaiGaz Company and MangistauMunaiGaz as well as Russian “LUKOIL” and “Rosneft” are now among the companies who signed contracts with the plant. The Casting Metallurgical Plant also received a large order and now the factory is getting ready to implement some new projects. Soon, the plant is to launch its rails and sleeper line costing 200 million Euros. Moreover, the regional administration and the national Kazakhstan Temir Zholy company are now working on supplies of components for a carriage and goods wagon plant which is now being constructed in Yekibastuz.
